For public classes, when available, please see below for additional information.

NC Taosit QigongWhat is Qigong?

Qigong literally means Life Energy Cultivation. Drawing from Chinese medicine, philosophy and martial arts, Qigong is a holistic system, made of simple body postures, slow movements and breathing, that can be practiced by anyone at any age, for meditation, health and inner-balance.

What to expect?

We will be keeping the sessions to 45 min in length, starting with a slow warmup and then picking a few Qigong exercises at a time.

The Wednesday class is on temporary hold. It will be renewed but likely at a different time and location. Please email me if you want to be notified when this class is continued.

The classes at The Matthews House are discontinued at this time. Please email me if you wish to be notified once the class resumes, date/time and new location.

What to wear?

Comfortable clothing preferred, but you can also wear work attire (removing the jacket and tie will suffice) if you are on your way to work. No need for special shoes. You can practice with any shoes, sneakers, 5-toes, socks or bare feet.

Tai Chi Saturdays

Tai Chi is an internal Chinese martial art, practiced for the added benefits of improving health and longevity. Tai Chi is the ability to relax into the opposing force; the capacity to truly listen.

Learning Tai Chi is not a means to an end, but rather an everlasting process of self-study.
The more you practice surrender, the more subtle resistance surfaces you still need to let go.
Real mastery of Tai Chi is not in the studio or in a fistfight confrontation, it is in the way one handles life.

No previous experience is required. Classes include warm-up, practice of the basic fundamental movesof the Yang form (short), related breathing techniques, as well as the philosophy behind the practice (Dao and I-Ching).
